The practice of South Ocean Ophthalmology, PC was first started in early 1970s on South Ocean Avenue in downtown Patchogue, New York by Melchor Garcia, Jr MD. It was then moved to its current location in the 1980s. Grace Garcia Lessing, MD joined her father's practice in 1999; and for years, have worked together providing comprehensive eye care to our community of family and friends. Today Grace Lessing, MD continues her father's tradition of personal eye care, offering routine eye care to all ages, treatment of ophthalmologic conditions, and surgery for the eye.

GRACE LESSING, MD FAAO
Grace Lessing, MD is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. After finishing her undergraduate studies at Middlebury College, she attended SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. Her residency training was completed at New York Medical College's St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City. Dr. Grace Lessing continues her education through her practice of ophthalmologic care. Helping patients everyday provides new insights to the care for each current and future patient. She attends local and national ophthalmologic conferences to bring back to her practice the best of ideas, techniques and technology to give focus to life with a clearer vision.
